Kevlar® is a product developed by DuPont. Created in the 1970′s, it was the first organic fiber developed to be strong enough to be used in advanced composites. Kevlar® is composed entirely of aromatic polyamides (aramides). This is what distinguishes Kevlar® from other man-made fibers. Kevlar® is tough, heat resistant, impact and abrasion resistant, but there seems to be a misconception about Kevlar®. Not all Kevlar® cloths are the same.
