Carbon Fiber Guitar Built Via TechShop

Check out this carbon fiber guitar (and great project overview) made by Instructables user “workislove”. He hand-crafted a composite guitar using carbon fiber and fiberglass with an epoxy resin base for a playable, durable instrument he created himself.

Among other advantages, he said, the construction of the construction of the laminate body was much easier than building a wooden guitar, he said, with great, dependable acoustics and a very durable design. workislove used a CNC lathe to machine the head and bridge, and laser-engraved a design on the neck of the guitar.

Read his post on the entire guitar construction, Carbon Fiber Acoustic Guitar, or jump straight to the section on building the composite body.

workislove created the guitar through the TechShop in San Francisco. TechShop is a membership-based workshop that allows its users access (after training) to creative industrial and design equipment, from 3D printers and CNC lathes to band saws, powder coaters and plasma cutters. TechShop has locations in cities nationwide, from Raleigh, N.C. and Detroit to San Jose, Calif.
